Google Business Profile Optimization in NYC

The map pack is three results. For most local businesses it drives more calls than every organic listing combined. We get you into it and keep you there.

Why the map pack matters more than your website

For a local service business, a Google search resolves in one of two places: the three-result map pack at the top, or the organic listings below it. The map pack takes the majority of clicks and nearly all of the phone calls, because it puts a call button directly in the result.

Most businesses treat their profile as a directory listing they filled out once. It is a ranked entity with roughly as many inputs as a website.

Google ranks local results on relevance, distance, and prominence. You cannot change distance. Relevance and prominence are entirely winnable, and that is where the work is.

What we fix

Your profile is incomplete or miscategorizedCategory selection is the single highest-return field and most businesses pick one and stop. We build the full profile: primary and secondary category strategy, complete service and product listings, attributes, a description written for query match, geo-tagged photography, and seeded Q and A.
Your NAP is inconsistent across the webSuite 200 on one directory, Ste 200 on another, an old phone number on a third. Google reads inconsistency as uncertainty about whether you exist. We audit every major aggregator and industry directory, correct or remove each mismatch, then build on the sources that matter for your vertical.
You have a service-area business and do not know what that meansService-area listings hide the address and rank from an obfuscated pin. Many businesses set this up wrong, or set it up right and then behave as though they have a storefront. We configure the correct listing type and give you a realistic assessment of which neighborhoods you can actually rank in.
You have no review velocityReview count, recency, accumulation rate, and keyword content all feed prominence. A profile with 12 reviews from three years ago is a dead profile. We build a review generation system with request timing, templates, and a response protocol, entirely within Google guidelines.
No local structured data on your siteYour site and your profile are supposed to corroborate each other. We implement the LocalBusiness entity graph, matching NAP, and neighborhood landing pages that give Google a reason to associate you with each area.

A note on realistic expectations

Distance is a ranking factor you cannot buy your way around. A business pinned in south Brooklyn will not rank in the Midtown Manhattan map pack regardless of budget. Any firm that tells you otherwise is either misinformed or lying.

What we can do is win the map pack across the neighborhoods where your pin gives you a genuine shot, and win organic results, where proximity does not apply, everywhere else. We will tell you which is which before you sign anything.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Google Business Profile optimization take to work?

Profile changes can move rankings in two to six weeks. Citation cleanup takes six to twelve weeks to propagate across data aggregators. Review velocity compounds over months. Competitive urban categories take longer.

What is the difference between Google Business Profile and Google My Business?

They are the same product. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile in 2021.

Can you guarantee a top three map pack ranking?

No. Distance from the searcher is a ranking factor nobody controls. We optimize what is controllable: profile completeness, relevance, citation consistency, and review velocity.

My listing got suspended. Can you help?

Yes. Outcomes depend on the suspension reason. Most suspensions trace to an address that does not meet Google requirements, keyword stuffing in the business name, or a category mismatch. We diagnose before filing.

Should my address be visible or hidden?

Hidden if you are a service-area business without a staffed location customers can visit. Visible if you have a real storefront with signage and staff during posted hours. Getting this wrong is the most common cause of suspension.

Do you buy reviews?

No. It violates Google guidelines, it is illegal under FTC rules, and profiles get purged for it. We build systems that generate real reviews from real customers.

Can you remove a bad review?

Only where it violates Google policies such as spam, off-topic content, conflict of interest, or hate speech. A negative review from a genuine unhappy customer is not removable, and the right answer there is a good public response.

Why distance decides the map pack

Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. Two of those are ours to work on. The third is fixed.
